DIY avocado toast

DIY avocado toast

INGREDIENTS

  • Sourdough bread
  • Avocado
  • Red onion
  • Feta cheese
  • Tomatoes
  • Sugar
  • Lime
  • Smoked salmon
  • Bacon
  • Za'atar
  • Tajin
  • Olive oil
  • Salt & pepper

RECIPE

  • Start by pickling your red onion. Slice the onion into thin slices. Put them in a glass container. Bring 1/2 glass of water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and two tablespoons of sugar. Turn off the heat and add the juice of 2 limes. Pour this into the glass container. Close the lid and store this in the fridge (3-4 hours before serving or overnight)
  • Cook the bacon in a hot pan
  • Slice the sourdough bread and cook the slices in a pan with olive oil. Season them with salt & pepper (you can also toast them all in a hot oven if you have a lot of slices)
  • Thinly slice the tomato and lay it on a plate. Season with slat, pepper and olive oil
  • Cut the avocados in two. Take out the pit and cut a small piece from the top. This should make the avocados easy to peel. Once peeled lay them flat on a cutting board and cut them into thin slices. Spread the avocado on your toast
  • Finish the toasts with the topping of your choice. I made one toast with feta, lime juice & za’atar. Another with tomatoes, pickled red onion, lime juice and tajín. The last one was topped with bacon and some extra salt & pepper
